In the "real world", The Dinosaur Farm is a specialty toy and book store in South Pasadena, California, that takes great pride in calling itself "not your ordinary toy store." L.A. Parent magazine gave us the Best Independent Toy Store award for Southern California again. The Readers of the Pasadena Weekly just voted us "Best Toy Store" for the third straight year. KTLA's Morning Show just did a bit on shopping at the Dino Farm (that's me trying to look awake with KTLA morning personality, Jessica Holmes). Los Angeles Magazine just featured us in a Shop South Pasadena article, as did AAA's Westways Magazine. The New Times Weekly named us Best Toy Store in their Best of L.A. issue, calling us "the perfect antidote to those suffering from Toys-R-Us burnout."
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times (11/1/07) actor Malcolm McDowell said that he has to visit our store because "The Dinosaur Farm is the best toy store in the world." Hey - who's going to argue with that??
Just last December, Forbes Magazine's online site, ForbesTraveler.com, put The Dinosaur Farm in a list called "10 AMAZING TOY STORES", along with FAO Schwartz and other nationally recognized toy stores.
While we offer the staples you'd expect to find in an educational toy store (Can you say "Thomas the Tank Engine"?), we also offer unusual things that make a visit to The Dinosaur Farm a bit different than most toy stores.
Come visit us, if you haven't already. We've had a remarkable artist transform our back room into a magical forest and she's doing the same to our main room. It looks great! If you're from out of town, ask for Dave (that's me), and I'll make sure you find all of the dinosaur goodies in the store.
STORE HOURS: Mon-Saturday 10:00-6:00 Sunday 11:00-5:00
These hours may change in December.
If you come to visit us and you're coming off of the 10 Fwy, take the Fremont exit north and DO NOT turn on Mission Road, keep going north until you hit Mission Street! Turn right on Mission Street and we'll be on the left hand side in the middle of the block. Park across the street. Call for directions if you're coming from other directions.
Thanks for visiting!
